a lifetime approach

Holism refers to understanding both the parts of something, as well as how those parts form the “whole.”

This concept is also sometimes referred to as “systems thinking.” You have the “components” that collectively make up the “system.” But as the adage goes, “optimizing a component does not optimize the system.”

We approach our dogs with this holistic mindset, attempting to optimize their care and management by understanding and improving all aspects of their welfare for the best collective outcome. We make every effort to share this approach and knowledge with owners, to ensure everyone’s success.

To accomplish that goal, we relentlessly attempt to improve our knowledge on nutrition, training, genetics, behavior, kennel management, and many other areas. We base our practices on years’ of firsthand experience, empirical data, ongoing research, and constantly consulting with experts in the breed.

This approach is a continuous journey. We are never too proud to admit mistakes, learn from them, and correct our course to guide our efforts toward a better future.

We also acknowledge that people can employ different approaches to align with a goal of holistic care. Therefore, whenever possible, we attempt to advocate for a holistic approach while exploring and providing different options. Some methods may work better for one owner or another, depending on context (e.g. kibble vs. RAW). But the most important goal is always the well-being of the dog.

We encourage our extended family to join us in learning and living the practice of holistic dog care. Among many options, our blog is a great resource to start or continue your own journey.

We always enjoy sharing our knowledge and experience that may help others. Feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.
